ACGI (Anybody Can Get It)
This year Tap superstar Jason Samuels Smith and his renowned company A.C.G.I. (Anybody Can Get It) are bringing a dynamic presentation to Vancouver, a special performance at our growing international festival. Accompanied by superlative live music, the company's performance will showcase Samuels Smith's intricate rhythms and original style, while also featuring a troupe of talented Tap soloists: Chloe Arnold, Lee Howard, Sarah Reich and Melinda Sullivan in an imaginatively choreographed frenzy of movement and sound.

Samuels Smith's own personal Tap style has been most influenced by the late great Gregory Hines. However, his rhythmic choices and charisma are truly his own, including an intense connection to Jason's interest in and passion for Jazz.

As a result, we also welcome gifted pianist and Musical Director Theo Hill, who will be part of this worldclass performance, which we are very pleased to present in our city.

More than 30 of North America's rising young stars take the stage in this totally unique and special one-time fes tival presentation, an unprecedented collaboration of amazing talent.

We have the luxury of fusing the artistic lenses of Gene Medler, Danny Nielsen and Sarah Reich, whose combined experience and expertise provides a spectacular backdrop to showcase the finest young talent today.

The evening combines the cutting edge of Tap Con Sabor, from LA, with the internationally acclaimed North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble and Vancouver's pride – TapCo.!

The muse for this very special evening performance is "The Cave."

Renowned as one of the most legendary and upscale venues in Vancouver entertainment history, it opened in 1937 and thrived for decades , showcasing literally thousands of top billings such as Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Mitzi Gaynor and other legends who performed on the Cave stage before starring as Vegas headliners.

In their heyday, Tap masters, Ernie Brown, Jimmy Slyde and Cholly Atkins all dazzled Cave audiences. Eleanor Powell - making her comeback in her mid 50's as a headliner in Vegas – was also among the stars who regularly journeyed to The Cave to showcase their work. VTDS has commissioned Danny, Travis and Matty to create what they think these legendary masters shared with Vancouver audiences, "back in the day." We have also encouraged them to add their own flavour to the mix.

Terry Brock's professional tap life has emulated Eleanor Powell. Through the generosity of Ms. Powell's son, Peter Ford, Terry has been accorded unprecedented access to Eleanor's notes, tech riders, travel trunk, tap shoes, and more from her Vegas show. Troy McLaughlin will join Ms. Brock. Join us in the very intimate 80-seat venue in the "Hideaway" room at the Waldorf.
